The Yasumoto Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is offered in recognition of a long and outstanding record of contribution to harmful algal research by an ISSHA member (see the membership list (requires login)). Previous recipients: Dr. F.J.R. (Max) Taylor (2000), Dr. Greta R. Hasle (2002), Dr. Theodore Smayda (2002), Dr. Donald M. Anderson (2006), Dr. Karen Steidinger (2008), Dr Yasuwo Fukuyo and Dr Barrie Dale (2010), Prof Ojvind Moestrup (2012).

The Patrick Gentien Young Scientist Achievement Award
This award is offered in recognition of outstanding achievement in any aspect of harmful algal research by scientists early in their career (i.e. within ten years of receiving their PhD). The award is intended for an exceptional or “break-through” contribution to an area of harmful algae research, rather than a cumulative record of achievement. The nominee should be an ISSHA member (see the membership list). Previous recipients: Dr. Chris Scholin (2002), Dr. Rosa I. Figueroa (2008).

Nomination procedure
Any ISSHA member in good standing may submit nominations for either achievement award, which should include a description of the nominee’s contribution (not more than one page). Please, make sure that you and your nominee have renewed membership for the period 2014-2015.

Nominations should be sent by e- mail to Marta Estrada ([email protected] ), Chair of the Committee on Achievement Awards, to be received before May 15th 2016.Please write ‘ISSHA Achievement Awards 2016’ in the message subject. Nominations will be considered by the ISSHA Council, and eventual awards will be presented at the 17th HAB Conference in Florianopolis (Brazil), 09-14 October 2016.
