Travel Award Applications for the ICHA 20 meeting

Please read the following information before applying for a travel award.

  1. ISSHA Membership is required to apply (https://issha.org/join-or-renew/). Note: If you are not a member, please join the society prior to the submitting of your application; application of non-member will not be considered. Also note, previous travel award recipients from meetings prior to the 2021 La Paz meeting are not eligible. 
  1. Selection will be based on the quality or nature of science of the paper to be presented in an oral or a poster presentation. Students who are first authors will be given higher priority for funding.
  1. There are three sources of funds (NOAA, SCOR and ISSHA) to support graduate student travel or in one case manager travel.

For funding from SCOR, only graduate students from developing and least developed countries are eligible to apply. Please check your eligibility on the webpage of SCOR.
Only US graduate students and US HAB managers are eligible to apply for the funds provided by NOAA.
All graduate students, including those from Latin America, are eligible to apply for the ISSHA travel funds.

  1. All applicants will be required to demonstrate they have sufficient resources to pay for any travel and conference costs not covered by a travel award.
  1. Incomplete applications or applications not submitted correctly may be rejected. Applications will be reviewed by the ISSHA Travel Award Committee and ranked according to merits presented.
  1. Applications are due by 15 July 2023 and decisions will be announced by 15 August 2023.
  1. Students receiving awards will be expected to assist with various conference activities during the meeting.
